FAQs

Should I be concerned about lead-based paints?

As of April 22nd, 2010, all contractors have to abide by the new EPA rules in lead abatement. For more information please visit www.epa.gov/lead/pubs/traincert.htm.

We have had projects done in the past and have received quotes ranging from high to low. Why is this, and what qualifies a higher priced bid?

The cost of the job is usually determined by the quality desired, which relates to the level of thoroughness and attention to detail.

Here are some factors that have an impact on the bid price:

  • It costs more to properly prepare a surface for painting than to give it just a quick paint job

  • The attention to details of prepping surfaces before painting will have a large factor in the overall price

  • How long you would like this paint to last

  • The extra care and effort to protect your furnishings and landscaping

Also, there’s an investment to professionally train painters and give them the highest quality paints, tools, and supplies to create the best results. If you have any questions about our bidding process, please let us know and we can discuss and compare our bid to others.

What is the difference between a bad paint job and a good paint job?

A bad paint job is the result of an underbid, inexperienced crew just trying to get the job done as quickly as possible, giving little consideration to the proper steps necessary to complete the job right.

A good paint job emphasizes proper preparation which will decide the overall life of the work. The technique is important along with quality materials. Without the proper amount of time, skill and material mean nothing. Strong Painting can give you precise estimates to let you know how long a quality job will take and all the steps involved to properly paint your house.

Who does the painting & who will supervise the job?

We properly train all employees. Each of our Lead Painters manages a set crew of 2-3 painters. We have found that certain skills and personalities work well together, which enhances the work and efficiency.

Will you stay on the job consistently, and not on a few days and off a few days?

We will have the same crew to begin and complete your job. We have enough employees so that we can have multiple jobs going at one time.

What kind of paint do you use?

We use Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, Rodda, Miller, and Devine paints most of the time. The brand of paint may vary depending on customer preference or project specifications. Regardless of brand, we use the highest grades because the best paint results in the best quality.

All of our other materials are top quality as well, we use tools and supplies from companies like:

  • Corona (brushes)

  • 3M (tape and masking supplies)

  • Daly’s (wood finishing products)

How long of a warranty do you offer on your work?

We offer a two-year warranty on our exterior work.

Is your company bonded?

Yes, Strong Hammer & Brush is a registered contractor in Washington (Reg.#STRONPC01203). Bonded in accordance with Washington State contractor requirements. Our insurance includes general business coverage, with General Liability and Worker’s Compensation policies.

Are references available?

Yes, references are available upon request.
